The modernization of a stretch on the Beira Alta line Between Cerdeira and Vilar Formoso includes the following work:

• Complete renovation of the track between km 223+537 and km 252+091 (60E1, multi-purpose crossing);

• Construction of 7 bypasses, the largest of which is 1km away up to 95m from the channel;

• Stabilization of the track platform and improvement of the drainage system;

• Construction of elevated walkways in Cerdeira and Vilar Formoso;

• Electrification at 2 x 25kv/50 Hz in bypasses;

• Installation of traction return current system and protection soil;

• Rehabilitation of 2 railway bridges;

• Extension of passenger platforms at Cerdeira, Miuzela, Freineda, Aldeia and Vilar Formoso;

• Renovation of railway layouts;

• Installation of new electronic signaling and telecommunications;

• Fencing around stretch.

The passenger platforms at Gata, Vila Fernando and Rochoso will also be extended, located between km 209+000 and 223+000;
