Innovation

Given how quickly the world is changing and specifically keeping in mind the evolution and revolutions occurring in the field of mobility and in society in general, IP has focused on developing a vision for Innovation. As such, IP is committed not only to ‘linking destinations’ but also to ‘linking the present to the future’.

Innovation is the driving force behind a dynamic improvement of our services, providing new solutions and products that promote efficacy and generate new business.

To embed Innovation throughout the organisation, IP is implementing and promoting a set of Research, Development and Innovation activities in priority scientific and technical areas, with an emphasis on establishing partnerships and availing of opportunities and support available at a national and international level.

So as to achieve its proposed vision and mission, IP has prioritised Innovation and has defined a strategy organised around various key areas of its activity as well as challenges and opportunities that are mainly related to the macro-trends of the Mobility and Transport System. IP systematically and closely monitors and researches these areas.

IP runs the Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) Program of 50 Challenges in Research, Development, and Innovation which seeks to find solutions to IP Group needs in these fields which can be met through collaboration with the scientific, technological (S&T) and corporate communities. These RDI needs can be those currently faced by the IP Group or can be seen as future challenges based on trends in the evolution in mobility and society.

In this regard, IP now has several RDI projects underway which allow numerous macro-trends in mobility and transport to be researched and tested through different pilot operations being carried out at Infraestruturas da IP.
