High-Capacity Network/Fiber Optics Services and Corporate Telecommunications

For the development, management, hosting and operation of Telecommunications Network infrastructure solutions and their hosting, Information Systems and Technologies, as well as any complementary or subsidiary activities, Infraestruturas de Portugal, SA. (IP) established a sub-concession with IP Telecom-Serviços de Telecomunicações, SA. (IP Telecom) - a public limited company, wholly owned by IP – for all of the abovementioned functions.

IP Telecom

  • Manages a telecommunications infrastructure which includes emission components (6,861km of fiber optics cables), transmission and reception of data communication, voice, image, and related data;

  • Operates the Technical Road Channel (TRC) in accordance with the “Access Offer Reference to IP Technical Road Channel Infrastructures and Services” (ORIP–TRC);

  • Manages three Datacenters (Lisbon, Porto and Viseu), which are interconnected and managed in an individual and redundant manner so as to ensure the high availability, security and reliability required for rail operation support telecommunications.

IP Telecom is therefore one of the main fiber optic operators (backbone) working in Portugal, also supporting critical communications for rail systems, ensuring high levels of availability and reliability in the quality of optical transmission, serving also several other national and international telecommunications operators, the corporate market and government.

Moreover, the entire infrastructure is monitored by NSOC-Networks, Security and Systems Management and Supervision Center, operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  • Certified ISO/IEC 27001 (Cloud Computing, Back Office hosting in a Data Processing Center (DPC) and Hosting);

  • Certified ISO 9001:2015 in management quality and information security, and IT process management in accordance with ITIL best practices;
