Scope of Work

The modernization on the stretch of the Douro line between Caíde and Marco de Canaveses, includes the following work:

  • Completion of Electrification;

  • Work in the Caíde, Gaviara and Campainha Tunnels: improvement, structural reinforcement and lowering for fitting of overhead contact line;

  • Complete renewal of the track superstructure (track, sleepers and ballast);

  • Extension of passenger platforms at the secondary stops of Oliveira and Recesinhos and repositioning of the platform at the Livração Station.

Benefits

  • This work has allowed the sustainability of the mobility system to be increased, eliminating the overflow from the Caíde Station, enabling the urban passenger service in electrical traction to be extended to the city of Marco de Canaveses, enhancing competitiveness and providing a direct service for passengers.
