Scope of Work
The A25 highway forms part of the E80 TransEuropean Network, which starts in Aveiro (Port of Aveiro) and extends to the border at Vilar Formoso. The aim of this work is to complete the final stretch of the A25 highway, with a length of 3.5 Km, thus providing a continuous highway link from Aveiro to Spain. The project involves different types of work, including: earthmoving, drainage, surfacing, installation of safety and signage equipment and the construction of special structures (elevated and underground walkways). In addition to the full lane road and the abovementioned tasks, work also includes seven re-establishments, a connection interchange in Vilar Formoso and another in Fuentes de Oñoro, two roundabouts and a 330-meter viaduct over the Tourões Stream. It should be noted that all stages of the work seek to minimize environmental impact.

Conclusion of highway link over the full length of the A25, reinforces territorial connectivity and coordination of European transport networks, enabling the trade of goods and services. In addition to this main aim, this work will also provide a solution to issues relating to the intensity of heavy traffic which imposes constraints on the level of service at the border. The remodeling of the Vilar Formoso interchange will also improve coordination with the existing road network.
