IP has extensive road and rail heritage in many locations around Portugal and which has very specific characteristics.
In addition to the 150 service facilities occupied by our staff, we manage a network of 465 stations with passenger and/or freight services.

We provide railway transport services, and also manage all the buildings not involved in rail or road operations, more specifically, those relating to commerce, housing and services, including condominiums, as well as the former Casas de Cantoneiros, or road workers’ houses, strategically located in regions distant from the district capitals and which allowed the workers to take care of the roads under their charge.
IP promotes new uses for buildings which are not used for our main activity, providing innovative and flexible solutions to enhance, requalify and restore these buildings. Through conversion and functional adaptation processes, we can provide a range of different spaces (for commerce, services and many other activities) under different usage options, such as rental or sub-concession or even transfer.
This heritage with potential for growth in value van be found in both urban as well as rural settings, and is available for different types of use. These buildings have good accessibility and commercial and urban potential for many economic activities.
